WILL OF EDWARD BURGESS, PITTSYLVANIA CO., VA F In the Name of God, Amen. I Edward Burgess of the Countv of Pittsylvania being weak of Body But of Desposing mind & sound Memory (for which I thank God) And calling to mind the uncertainty of Human life & being Desirous to dispose of all such Worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with. I give and bequeath the Same in Manner follwing that is to say first I give & bequeath unto my son BENJAMIN BURGESS five shillings Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughters MARY CLARKE, SARAH BURGSSS, MORDICA BURGESS, JANE PRUITT, JAMES BURGESS, JOHN BURGESS & MILLEY WILSON Severally & respectively five Shillings each to them & their heirs and assigns for ever having previously to this time given them as the left me what I could spare from my Estate. Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter VIRLINNA BURGESS one Feather Bed an Furniture & one Cow and calf & one third of the Kitchen & Houshold Furniture to Her & her Heirs & assigns for Ever. Item I give and bequeath to my beloved wife MARGARET BURGESS the Whole of the residue of my Estate during her Natural Life and after her Decease the Remainder over Both real & personal I give to my son WILLIAM BURGESS to him & his Heirs & assigns for Ever Comprehending the Land on which my son BENJAMIN BURGESS lived. Jtem I give and bequeath my Loom Gear Cards Wheels &c to my Daughter VIRLINNA after the Death of my Wife Margaret to her & her Heirs and assigns for ever. Any Lastly do Constitute & appoint my C beloved Wife MARGARET BURGESS & WILLIAM B~GESS my Executor & Executrix of this my last will & Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made or Caused to be made But do declare this to be published & Carried Into effect by my Executor & Executrix of Either of them after my Decease In Testimon' whereof I have hereunto set my.hand & affixed mv seal this 23rd Day of January 1799.
